One of the most beautiful prayers that I have heard, or read, is: Most merciful Father, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed: by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my [...]

In the various reactions I have seen, many have forgotten a basic principle of being a Christian: We are called out and different than those around us. We know that from 1 Peter 2:9 – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Did you know that at least 70% of a pastor’s job is dealing with conflict? Now before you jump to conclusions remember that conflict is not always personal. It could be that you have a conflict between wanting to spend money and having none. It could be reconciling your faith with who you were created to be. It can be an internal conflict about what you want to be in life. It can be numerous things and frankly they can all be resolved in much the same manner.

If you are reading this it is because you were “left behind” just as I was during this last rapture. Well, really you are thinking who are these crazy people to think that they could know that Jesus would come back on May 21, 2011. How did they miss Matthew 24:36 where Jesus says: “But about that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father?”

In the Gospel of Matthew Jesus compares the Kingdom of God with Ten Virgins and how some were left because they were not prepared, then with a master who entrusted his servants with resources to be grown while being used to support themselves and how one chose to be left out because they allowed their fear to rule them rather than their faith and lastly the story of the Sheep and Goats where some are included and some not included with all of them being surprised. They were surprised because they just became and acted as they became.

In the 9th chapter of the Gospel of Luke Jesus is speaking to his disciples telling them that he must suffer, die and rise again. In that passage we read as he tells them, and us: “If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I’m leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels.”
Are We Worshipping the Jesus of the Bible?

Have you noticed that many surrender their faith due to other’s thoughts, or they have a simple 5th grade understanding of their faith never really growing into something that sustains, or they make their faith all about them and the blessings that they receive rather than the one whom they claim to follow.
